About OnlyFrench
Who runs OnlyFrench
OnlyFrench is built and operated by Studio 49, a company based in Canada. If something on this site is wrong, out of date, or unclear, write to support@onlyfrench.ca — corrections reach a person, and we act on them.
How our practice content is made
Practice content is developed with French tutors and reviewed before it is published.
Our practice items are written to match the official exam format — the section structure, question types and timing of TEF Canada and TCF Canada. They are our own material. We do not reproduce, license or distribute real exam questions, passages, recordings, answer keys or score reports, and no practice result is an official score.
How our score estimates work — and what they are not
We think you should know how a number was produced before you act on it, so here is ours, plainly.
Reading and listening. We scale your percentage of correct answers onto the IRCC point range for that skill, then read off the NCLC level from IRCC’s published table. The official exams use item calibration, where harder questions carry different weight. Our estimate is therefore an approximation, not a reproduction of official scoring.
Writing and speaking. These are rated by an AI model against four criteria and averaged. That rating has not been calibrated against human examiners, so treat it as structured feedback on your work rather than a prediction of an official mark.
What no practice score can tell you. Practice runs without an invigilator, without enforced timing, and without the pressure of exam day. We have no way to link practice performance to real exam outcomes, and we do not claim one. Use our scores to find your weakest skill and track your own progress — not to predict a result.
What we are not
OnlyFrench is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or accredited by any exam owner, including CCI Paris Île-de-France, which owns TEF, and France Éducation international, which owns TCF. We are not an exam centre, we cannot book or reschedule an exam, we cannot issue or re-mark an official result, and we do not give immigration advice. For those, go to the exam owner, your test centre, or IRCC.
